Hamish Patten
I'm a statistician and physicist based in Lausanne, Switzerland. My career in science has been a fairly non-linear one. It has taken me through nuclear fusion, statistics, the humanitarian and UN sector, and, most recently, medical technology. The common narrative has been to apply mathematical, statistical, Machine Learning and Deep Learning models to real-world problems, solving them using state-of-the-art scientific computing methods.
Away from work I also paint, make pottery and write. These are hobbies rather than second careers, but they have been a steady part of my life for years, and I wanted somewhere to keep them alongside my research. This site is that place — part working CV, part sketchbook.
